Social inclusion through citizenship
Ahead of and in the continuity of the 2024 European elections, the project hub of Europe en Hainaut is setting up a range of actions to raise awareness among those most remote from citizen concerns. The aim is to give them a better understanding of European issues and also to inform them about their role as European citizens, especially in the main areas that affect European democratic life. This appreciation of their role as European citizens is one of the vectors for successful social inclusion.
Actions implemented
ACTION 1
Creation and diffusion of
a toolbox for the actors of inclusion and social integration
ACTION 2
Animation of educational workshops with vulnerable groups in social inclusion and integration structures
ACTION 3
Meetings between stakeholders, representatives of the European institutions and vulnerable groups and/or actors of inclusion and social integration
Action 1: Create and distribute a toolkit (practical information sheets, educational games, video, posters) to the actors of inclusion and social integration
We identify and sum up the expectations and needs of social inclusion partners, thus initiating relevant territorial cooperations and fostering a network dynamic. We also provide news, events and training that can help social inclusion actors to develop their skills in European citizenship. Finally, we are implementing an information action plan for the social inclusion actors in the territory.
Action 2: Organize and co-lead simulation workshops with vulnerable groups of social inclusion structures
We organize and co-host information meetings on the democratic functioning of the European Union. We also set up educational parliamentary simulations where participants can play the role of an MEP. Finally, we facilitate the feedback of the work carried out by the participants to future MEPs, thus allowing a direct and constructive interaction.
Action 3: Mobilize and facilitate the contribution of stakeholders and/or representatives of European institutions to vulnerable audiences and/or actors of inclusion and social integration
We mobilize networks of local and European partners in the implementation of the project. We encourage dialogue between the European institutions and those involved in social inclusion in the region. We also organise meetings between representatives of the European institutions and vulnerable groups to strengthen their commitment and understanding of European citizenship.
